Discover the top 3 must-have units for Emperor’s Children in Warhammer 40K. Learn how to maximize their power, dominate the battlefield, and crush your enemies with expert tactics.
The Emperor’s Children may have taken a few knocks in the latest Balance Dataslate, but they’re still one of the flashiest and most dangerous forces on the tabletop. If you’re building an Emperor’s Children list in Warhammer 40,000, these three units remain absolute staples — both for competitive play and for embracing the glorious excess of Slaanesh.

1 – Noise Marines (145 Points for Six Models)
Noise Marines are the backbone of most Emperor’s Children lists — and for good reason. As the only true ranged unit in the faction, they give you the ability to threaten enemies at distance while still fitting perfectly into the aggressive playstyle the army demands.
Most players run them with two Blastmasters for maximum output. The only real debate is whether to kit the Disharmonist with a Screamer Pistol and Power Sword, or keep the Sonic Blaster for range. Personally, I’ve found the Power Sword combo to be especially deadly in Coterie of the Conceited lists, where throwing a melee strike at a weak target helps rack up your tally.

2 – Daemon Prince of Slaanesh with Wings (200 Points)
Even after a points increase, the Winged Daemon Prince remains one of the most versatile and dangerous models in your roster. While triple-Prince lists are less common now, running two is still a competitive norm.
With the ability to move 17″ before charging thanks to a free, improved Tank Shock, this model can catch opponents off guard and act as a devastating force multiplier. Combine this mobility with a strong melee profile — and the buffs you can stack mid-to-late game in Coterie detachments — and you’ve got a unit that’s equal parts threat and distraction.

3 – Lucius the Eternal (150 Points)
Some units you take because they’re good. Others you take because you can’t imagine running a list without them. Lucius is both.
With Lone Operative, 5+ Feel No Pain, Fights First, and a terrifying melee output, Lucius plays exactly like the master duelist he’s known to be in the lore. He’s also surprisingly survivable as a Warlord in Coterie lists, which makes him invaluable in longer games.
Final Thoughts
If you’re starting an Emperor’s Children army, these three units give you a rock-solid foundation to build from. Noise Marines bring the ranged threat, the Daemon Prince offers speed and force projection, and Lucius delivers both flavor and lethality in equal measure.
